The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update. Social Media Response Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification. The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms. They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Updates Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said. Required Changes A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
