Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with former coach his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.
It is the player's maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of that year.
The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.
But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an better service.
He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.
The opponent defended 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
