An individual who laced sweets with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two young males both between nine and ten.
The accused was detained after eight children and a grown-up fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The 76-year-old, from that region, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on recently.
However, he denied one particular crime he was charged with, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the court.
She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer program which he managed.
The man conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor explained, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously become sick the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "This year his stepchild had worries about what was going on, justifiably.
"They chose" to investigate in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC said items including infant oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild notified the law enforcement about his worries.
She stated Ruben went on to engage in the "candy game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
Mrs Prior stated the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the family member called the authorities again.
She stated the man then engaged in the "candy game" in a area of five children.
